Hi Barbie! Er, we mean, hi Billie!
ICYMI, Billie Eilish appears on the upcoming Barbie soundtrack with a song titled “What Was I Made For?” and tbh, we still can’t get over how star-studded this movie is. Billie drops the single on Thursday, July 13 (tomorrow!) and in a post on Instagram, shared that the song means “the absolute world” to her: “THIS MOVIE IS GONNA CHANGE UR LIVES AND HOPEFULLY THE SONG WILL TOO. GET READY TO SOB💐👀🌸🥹🫧💞,” she wrote.
On July 11, just two days before the debut of “What Was I Made For,” Billie posted a teaser on Instagram and revealed that a video will also drop with the song. “i caaaaaaaan’t wait to see what you think😋🎀 !! that shit hurted 😅,” she penned in the caption.
In the teaser photo, Billie *transforms* into retro Barbie with a yellow-blonde, 1950s-style ponytail and curled bangs (teased to perfection). She wears a short-sleeve buttercup-yellow cardigan and matching bauble earrings. Wearing the same look, the Grammy Award-winner also teased a snippet of the song on TikTok — and yup, we understand the “get ready to sob” note now.
This is just half the outfit and we’re obsessed. So, of course, we found some dupes for you to emulate vintage Barbie yourself (and psst, some of them are on sale for Amazon Prime Day).
For the Barbie movie premiere in Los Angeles on July 9, Billie wore a business-casual-meets-skater-girl ‘fit, complete with a pink striped button-down, pink tie, black pants, and oversized sneakers. We love the range.
