*Major spoilers for The Sex Lives of College Girls below!*

The Sex Lives of College Girls just wrapped its second season on Max, and the streamer has officially renewed the Gen Z comedy series for a third season. Bela, Kimberly, Leighton, and Whitney started the series as suitemates at Essex College in Vermont, although the season two finale hinted that Whitney may live at the Kappa sorority house after Leighton quit and she caught Kimberly kissing Canaan — a.k.a her ex she still has feelings for. As for Bela, she plans on transferring to a different school after her grades have tanked and she hurt her peers at her female-led comedy magazine at Essex, The Foxy.

So, what's next for the core four and their peers at Essex? Find everything we know so far about The Sex Lives of College Girls season three.

Is The Sex Lives of College Girls season 3 happening?

Yes! We're heading back to Essex (and maybe elsewhere, if Bela ends up transferring, after all) for another season. Ahead of the season two finale, Max announced that Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble's Gen Z show will be coming back for a third season on Twitter.

"Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble continue to brilliantly capture the college experience in the most entertaining and relatable way. This series is the perfect balance of comedy, sex, curiosity, and chaos, and we can’t wait to see what the next season brings," Suzanna Makkos, EVP, Original Comedy and Adult Animation at Max, wrote in an official statement.

When does The Sex Lives of College Girls season 3 come out?

Since season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls just wrapped, there's no telling when season three will come out on Max. While we wait for an official release date announcement from the streaming service, we can likely expect season three to drop in November 2023, since the first two seasons were released in November 2021 and 2022, respectively.

What will The Sex Lives of College Girls season 3 be about?

Like its first two seasons, season 3 of SLOCG will likely entail the ups and downs of college life for the quad squad as well as their evolving sexualities. At the end of season 2, Leighton breaks up with her "doppelganger" Tatum and gets back with her ex, Alicia, after quitting Kappa and coming out to her family. Kimberly finds a budding romance with her Sips co-worker, Canaan, who also happens to be Whitney's ex. What Kimberly doesn't know is that Whitney caught them kissing and she's planning on moving into Leighton's empty room at the Kappa sorority house.

As for Bela, she's hurt a lot of people, including her childhood best friend, Eric, and her peers at The Foxy. Her grades have also taken a hit because of all the things she went through this past semester, and in the season 2 finale, she's seen requesting a transfer at a counselor's office.

Will Leighton, Kimberly, Whitney, and Bela's college experience take a turn for the worst as tensions rise, or will they work through everything together and remain BFFs? We'll have to find out in season three of The Sex Lives of College Girls.

Who is in the cast for The Sex Lives of College Girls season 3?

We can likely expect to see our core four — Amrit Kaur, Pauline Chalamet, Reneé Rapp, and Alyah Chanelle Scott — back for next season.

However, according to a July 2023 report from Deadline, we'll be seeing less of Reneé Rapp in the upcoming season as her music career is taking off and she just signed on to reprise her role as Regina George in the Mean Girls musical movie for Paramount+. Per the report, Reneé will appear in "a handful of episodes" in the upcoming season, but "will not be a series regular and will depart the show after those episodes."

Showrunner Mindy Kaling addressed the news on her Instagram Stories, writing, "We love @reneerapp so much and of course will be so sad to say goodbye Leighton Murray! But we can't wait to see our friend on tour!!"

Reneé, who's set to embark on her first headlining tour across the U.S. this fall, penned a love letter to the cast, crew, fans, and her character, Leighton, amid her departure from the series. "[The Sex Lives of College Girls has] given me y'all and this community," Reneé wrote on her Instagram Stories before thanking Mindy and co-creator Justin Noble.

"a lot of queer work gets belittled — but playing Leighton has changed my life. i love who i am 10x more than i did before knowing her. i hope she gave y'all a little bit of that too," she continued, crediting the character for allowing her to discover the person she's become.
